Veterans Inter Club Trophy - July 2011

This competition was established in 1985 as the Evening Gazette Veterans Challenge Cup and is competed for each year by teams of 9 representing their various clubs.

The clubs currently competing in the competition are Clacton(hosting the competition this year) Ipswich, Channels, Colchester, Felixstowe, Frinton, Gosfield, Rushmere, Stowmarket and Stoke By Nayland.

After a disappointing performance at Ipswich Golf Club last year a strong team was entered under the captaincy on the day of Alex Giddens.

The full team was Alex, Dave Austin, Bob Filer, Trevor Samways, Roger Fleuty, Mike Isom, Mel Jones, Keith Prichard, and John Williams.

The team did exceptionally well to leave Clacton with the trophy scoring a very commendable 253 points with staring performances from Trevor Samways with 36 points, Dave Austin 34 points, Alex Giddens and Bob Filer both with 33 points.

It was always the intention that Stoke By Nayland host the event in 2012 but even better to host the event as defending champions.
