A good turnout but disappointing on temporary greens.

The weather did improve after a frosty start and most finished with a little sun on their backs. However as the Competition started on temporary greens it had to finish on them.

Despite some gentle protests Captain had checked this with the Pro / Shop who confirmed the fact.

The match was not as close as the scoreline suggests and reference to the  Harman / Jenkins v. Smith /  King match explains why! Yes a win for the former pair by no less than 11 holes (Hambro Scoring). Rod Harman evidently applied for a transfer to Essex but his wife said no. Tony Smith was speechless when told of the overall result /  / "I don't believeit!!" He was most gracious however when the Captain asked him to present the ball prizes to Rod and Fred Jenkins!.

Round 2 is Monday 19th March and all to play for. The Gwynne Griffiths Trophy is at stake and that will be presented to the winning Captain at Lunch.
