Inter Club Match v Stowmarket Away March 2011

With tremendous enthusiasm the SBN team arrived at Stowmarket for the inaugural match of the 2011 season.

Under an overcast sky the 8 teams took to the excellent fairways that Stowmarket always seems to produce.

The green keeper however was to have the last laugh, producing greens so fast that landing on a green was an achievement in itself – but that was the easiest part. Clearly lessons had been learnt from Augustaas the mere touch of a ball resulted in the ball travelling quite some way – generally back off the green again.

In fairness even the Stowmarket members were surprised at the speed of the greens, although the opposing team appeared to come to terms with the tricky conditions much better.

All credit to the Graham Head / Steve Wright and Trevor Samways / Jeremy Osborne pairing who both returned very creditable wins.

The pairing of Filer / Hands contested a very hard fought drawn match.

Apart from that the other pairings all retuned defeated to the clubhouse to enjoy the excellent hospitality of our hosts.
