The Stoke team travelled to Rushmere for the final inter club match of the year. Early fog soon cleared andthe match was played on a glorious September day with a little wind - just to make it interesting!
The opening partnership of Captain Steve and Vice Captain Dave faced a very strong Rushmere pair with the home captain, playing off a handicap of 5, producing a par round which gave Steve and Dave little chance - "we were stuffed 5 & 4 and didn't win a hole until the 9th"
Most other games were very evenly contested and could have gone either way. Quote of the day goes to Lionel who, once again, claimed to be "bloody desperately unlucky".
The only winners were Gwynne and Peter who after a game that went first one way then the other won the match with the last put on the 18th green.
Yet another excellent match, played in great spirit - a credit to both teams.
