Inter Club Match v Gosfield Away May 2011

 Stoke went to visit their good friends at GosfieldLakewith high hopes but no Captain.

In the absence of Steve and David, Alan Line was deputed to stand in and from then on it all went wrong.

If the picture of Alan's drive on the first tee was a spot the ball competition, the ball would just entering the frame on the top right after about five seconds.

Helped by his esteemed partner, Lionel Hatch the situation went from bad to worse.

Our Captain was heard to say 'I've never been 4 down after 4 holes'  - you can guess the rest - 5 down after 5 holes, this led to the inevitable 'dog license'.

Well played to Captain Derek Pryke and David Nott who gave us a lesson in golf

Thankfully others fared betters;

Martin Brown and Trevor Samways who both scored better that their handicap and only managed to win 2 & 1

Ian Kent and Will Cooper won 3 and 2 and Richard Gregory and Robin Tyrrell won by the same margin

The rest of the team fared not quite as badly as the Captain but close

Overall the score was kept to a respectable 5 - 3 loss - Come back Steve all is forgiven
