Inter Club Match v Benton Hall Home July 2011

In a final desperate attempt to obtain a win we packed all the low handicappers off to the Inter-Club tournament at Clactonand selected a below strength team (supposedly) for this match.

Sod’s Law then took a hand and a famous victory was achieved.

All our people were really proud to listen to the many kind remarks made about our course by our visitors – The Gainsborough course was in really great shape.

One fly in the ointment was the very slow play.  Some of the four balls took over 5 hours and your Captain had to apologise after complaints were made by golfers following us.  I appreciate that much of this was caused by Benton Hall members but even so,  at times,  some of our own people appear to take a perverse pleasure in taking as long as they can to complete a round of golf.
