VETERANS' SECTION INTER CLUB MATCHES
Each year, Stoke by Nayland Veterans' section have matches against sixteen other local clubs, home and away, making a total of thirty two matches.
If you wish to play in these matches you must have played in at least three Veterans' Stableford or Medal competitions during the twelve months prior to your entry unless you are a new member in your first year.
Each match is for a team of sixteen players on each side, eight four-ball, better-ball games in each match.
The prime objective behind team selection is to find a place in the teams for everyone who puts his name forward to play, and pick teams that will give both an enjoyable day out and good opposition for the other team.
How it works:-
Vets' wishing to play in these matches are invited to enter their names and handicap on the match availability sheets displayed on the Notice Board, which are displayed six weeks before the match date. If you are available and wish to to be picked simply put your name on the list.
The teams will be selected and the team sheets posted around two weeks before the match date. If you are selected, please add a tick to your name to acknowledge you have seen the notice and are available to play. Also please make a note of the assembly time; particularly for away matches.
In the event that you are picked and you cannot play, then you should contact the the first available reserve on the team sheet and invite him to play instead of you. (All telephone numbers are the members diary) If he cannot then you ask the next reserve and so on.
When you have found a replacement, please put their name on the list in place of yours - and then telephone Martin Brown to advise him of the change.
If you have special dietary requirements, please contact Martin Brown with details as soon as possible.
As a playing member of the team you would be expected to wear the white Veterans' club golf shirt and perhaps a Veterans' maroon golf jersey or slip-over; these items of clothing have the Veterans' logo on them. If you don't have these items or need to renew them, the veterans' committee have purchased a stock of these items and your contact for this is Robin Tyrrell.
All of our inter club matches both home and away have a meal following the play; Jacket and Veterans' club tie is the expected dress code.
