Captain & Pro V Kevin McKenna & Eric Richardson
For Olly (our youngest Professional) this was his first and as he is soon returning to Spain, probably his last Captain – Pro match. As a result Olly was particularly unlucky to have to match his skills against two of our biggest ‘bandits’ Eric and Kevin. No doubt disturbed by this intrepid pair, Olly found great difficulty in keeping his huge drives on the fairways.
On the second Gainsborough he managed to drive the 18th Constable whilst his Tee shot on the 16th was last seen heading towards the road adjoining the 14th. However, we all agreed that Olly was a great lad and very good company.
Meanwhile, Kevin and Eric, with the help of a few outrageous putts, lead the match and it was only on the very last hole that your Captain managed to put his Tee shot on the green and to half the match with a par. Somewhat uncharitably, our opponents complained that the Captain’s Tee shot was a fluke.
In any event, we all agreed that it was a very enjoyable match and the Captain came away with a punnet of Blackberries and instructions on how to install a Power Shower – so the morning wasn’t entirely wasted.
Our picture shows the intrepid two with Olly before the match.
