American Greensomes - 18th January 2012

On a rather damp and cold morning some 44 vets ventured out on the Gainsborough course to pay an American Greensomes for the first time. After some lively discussions over the combined handicap calculations, it was discovered they had already been put on the cards for us! Very thoughtful!

A mix of winter tees, winter greens and normal tees and greens on the various holes gave more variety than usual and the hard ground in places around the winter greens meant the ball did not behave itself - at least that was the excuse given by some for not sinking the ball. Nevertheless, Roger Doherty and John King managed to avoid most of the pitfalls, and came in with a winning 47 points, closing followed by Lionel Hatch and Roger Milne on 46 and Chris Bridge and Tony Osborne on 45.
